phpwebhosting has upgraded the MySQL software to version 5.0.27-standard. Theoretically, this should have been transparent but there were two issues that arose:
1. We were unable to login to the administration area for almost a week until someone at phpwebhosting apparently did something to fix the situation. We still don't know what that something was.
2. Dates that relied on the TIMESTAMP data type were rendered incorrectly because it turns out that the TIMESTAMP data type actually changed its format for MySQL 5. I still have not seen any documentation to that effect, but I've seem proof in our own database. On the plus side, it gave me the opportunity to revamp the human readable date routines and make them a little more robust, hopefully.
Also, the mail server was giving us fits again. It turns out that the webmail clients the phpwebhosting provides are only beta versions and not guaranteed to be very stable. It also turns out that apparently we have our own, much older uebiMail software install in our site that may be earlier version than what phpwebhosting provides. The recommendation from the SA's is to use a PC based client like Outlook or Netscape (Thunderbird??) and pull the mail off the server which isn't backed up anyway.
