Conversations with Artists
Friday, January 16, 2015 at 6:00 pm until Friday, March 20, 2015 at 5:00 pm
Volunteers at Community Darkroom have re-imagined works of art by the likes of Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, and others in their own photographs in an exhibit entitled “Conversations with Artists”.
Photo remakes are a unique form of artwork that draws inspiration from an existing piece—mostly paintings, but also photographs, poetry, and sculpture—and reimagine that piece as a new photograph. The purpose is not to create an identical copy of the original, but to recreate its mood, its message, and sometimes to add a layer of personal interpretation, creating something deeper.
Participating photographers include:
- Monika Ueffinger
- Terri Sipone
- Jennifer Banister
- Rebecca Lomuto
- Luna Galassini
- Susan Andersen
- Thomas Schaeffer
- Jen Pereña
