About the Community Darkroom
Community Darkroom was established in 1977 to fulfull the need in our community for a modestly priced
photography school
that would serve students of all ages, backgrounds, heritage, and economic status. We provide community access
to photography
facilities for students, professionals, serious amateurs, artists, and anyone interested in pursuing the
craft of photography.
We also provide teaching opportunities for professional photographers from all different styles and backgrounds.
Our international teaching staff consists of graduate students from the Visual Studies Workshop and RIT, working
professionals
in the community, retired Kodak employees, and artists. If you would like to inquire about joining
our staff, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Finally, we bring photography programs to urban schools and to organizations specifically serving urban youth.
More information about our photography classes, workshops, can be found under our darkroom classes link. Facility rental information
can be found under Facilities tab above.
