What is a Cash Mob?

A Cash Mob is a group of people organized to shop at a certain small business at a prearranged date and time. The idea is to support a locally-owned business, giving them a boost in sales and visibility.

Who came up with the idea?

The idea of cash mobs has been spreading throughout the country. We decided to bring it to Rochester after seeing its success elsewhere. Click here to see the full list of cities involved.

What does this have to do with Genesee Center for the Arts & Education?

Janice Gouldthorpe, Executive Director, and Kate Edgerton, Communications Specialist, are organizers of Rochester's Cash Mob. We are a community arts center and cash mobs support the locally owned and created goods and service businesses in our community.  We hope you and other supporters of the Genesee Center for the Arts & Education want to support our local businesses by spending your dollars locally.

How can I get involved?

There will be more - so get your business and fan base ready!

There will be a new online poll where people in the community get to select the businesses (email, facebook and twitter). We will announce the next vote, allow a bit of time to elapse for the voting and then have the mob.

To keep in the loop, follow us @CashMobROC and like our Facebook page.

The best thing for you to do is collect names, build your following on social media and position yourself to be able to reach out to these folks when the next vote occurs. And watch for the next Cash Mob announcement!
